JPD makes Arrest on Attempted Murder

On 09/15/2024 at approximately 11:45 am the Jasper Police Department dispatch received calls about a male subject who had blood on his clothing and a head injury. Subject was walking near the 15th Street entrance of the Riverwalk. While officers were looking for the male subject, JPD dispatch received a 911 call from a Riverwalk call box. The male subject on the call advised Clara Whippo struck him with a metal object and he was suffering from a head injury. Male subject was transported to Memorial Hospital for his injuries. Officers began searching for the female subject in the agricultural field just northeast of the 15th street entrance of the riverwalk. After deployment of the Jasper Police Department’s drone and K9, Whippo was located by K9 Gator during the track and taken into custody. Clara Whippo was charged with attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, aggravated battery, neglect of an animal, and criminal trespass and lodged into the Dubois County Security Center. JPD was assisted by the Dubois County Sheriff Department, Memorial Hospital EMS, and Memorial Hospital.
