JPD: Attempted Fraud Caught at Local Auto Dealership

Jasper- Jasper Police arrested a Stendal man after they say he tried to use false information to buy a car.

JPD reports on Tuesday, officers were called to Ruxer Ford after 60-year-old David Salmon tried to purchase a vehicle with accused false information and a fake ID. Officers located Salmon a short time later driving a 2022 Black Kia.

While taking him into custody, officers noted Salmon appeared to be impaired, adding an additional charge against him.

Officers learned this is not the first time Salmon tried using false information, as they say he has done this before. The investigation is still ongoing and more charges may come, but for now, David Salmon is charged with:

  • Forgery (Level 6 Felony)
  • Identity Deception (Level 6 Felony)
  • Counterfeiting Government Issued Identification (Level 6 Felony)
  • Fraud (Level 6 Felony)
  • Obstruction of Justice (Level 6 Felony)
  • OWI (Misdemeanor)
