JHS Student Takes Home Blue Ribbon at Indiana State Fair
Jasper- Schools returned to session last week, but one local student rang in the new year by receiving one of 4-H’s top awards.
14-year-old Haley Hallett received a Blue Ribbon with Special Merit at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis. Hallett brought home the blue in the Public Speaking- Junior Division category.
Hallet gave a three to five minute speech on women empowerment at the fair Sunday. She spoke on her experiences as a female in scouts with the BSA and the challenges that accompanied it.
She has been involved in 4-H for nine years. She currently attends Jasper High School and is a member of the Pike County 4-H Club.
