Jasper Public Library Hosts Historic Photo Scan-a-thon
The Jasper Public Library invites the community to
participate in a Historic Photo Scan-a-thon on Saturday, October
19
th
. This special event offers a unique opportunity for residents to
digitize their cherished family photographs, documents, and
memorabilia, contributing to the preservation of local history.
Participants are encouraged to bring photographs depicting family
events, community landmarks, historical celebrations, and other
significant moments that highlights their community’s vibrant past.
Scanned images will become part of a digital archive called, Indiana
Album. Indiana Album is a nonprofit organization that borrows,
digitizes, catalogs, and shares photographs, postcards, and graphics
depicting Indiana from all eras.
"We’re excited to offer the Scan-a-thon as a way to preserve the rich
history of our community," said Genealogy Librarian Jill Watson.
"It’s a great opportunity for families to protect their memories while
helping us build a shared historical archive."
Reservations for scanning can be made between 9:30am & 4pm on
Saturday, October 19th
