Jasper Police Find Seven Pounds of Marijuana in Home
Jasper- What started as a Department of Child Protective Services call led to the discovery of several illegal items.
On Thursday, September 1st, the Jasper Police Department was assisting the Department of Child Services on an initial assessment at a home on Herbig Lane, when they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence. A search warrant was issued around 2:00pm.
During the search, officers located over seven (7) pounds of Marijuana, approximately $6,000 in cash, a large quantity of marijuana edibles, a handgun, and other illegal drugs and paraphernalia.
The owner of the home, Calvin Helming, was arrested and taken to the Dubois County Security Center on the charges listed below.
Full charges against Calvin Helming:
- Dealing in a Schedule I Controlled Substance w/ Firearm (Level 5 Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Level 6 Felony)
- Dealing in Marijuana (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of Cocaine or Narcotic Drug (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession or use of a Legend Drug or Precursor (Level 6 Felony)
- Neglect of a Dependent (Level 6 Felony)
- Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor)
