Jasper Police Department Welcomes Its Newest K-9 Officer
Jasper - Jasper Police Department has welcomed its newest K-9 officer.
Makya is a black and tan Bloodhound who will be
four years old in February 2022.
She was donated
originally to the Boone County Sheriff's Office,
Indiana in October 2018 by Find M' Friends Inc. in
Crystal River, Florida, and was issued to handler
Clint Stewart. Makya was then gifted to her
handler when he moved to Jasper Indiana where
he was hired by the Jasper Police Department.
Makya and her partner, Officer Clint Stewart,
completed extensive training at both York County
South Carolina Bloodhound Seminars in 2018 and
became certified in Mantrailing by NAPWDA in
2019.
Makya is trained in search and rescue
mantrailing for the purpose of locating missing
people.
