Jasper PD K9 Aids in Drug Arrests
Jasper- A K9 Officer led police to two drug arrests last week.
Jasper Police K9 Officer Mack was utilized in two separate vehicle searches last week.
The first search was on December 6th when Jasper police officers were called to the Days Inn for a suspicious vehicle report. K9 Mack did a free air sniff on the vehicle and positively indicated to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search revealed marijuana inside and a syringe was located in the parking lot. The substance inside the syringe would test positive for heroin.
Joseph Buchanan, 54 of Evansville, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Narcotic, Possession of a Syringe, and Possession of Marijuana. Timothy Cheaney, the passenger of the vehicle, was cited into court for possession of marijuana.
The second search came a few days later on December 9th. The Jasper Police Department responded to a call of a female, later identified as 60-year-old Junia Pfaff, “slumped over the steering wheel,” according to a report. EMS transported Pfaff to Memorial Hospital while Officer Mack conducted a free air sniff. Mack would positively indicate to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle.
The search revealed Methamphetamine and three controlled substances. Once released from the hospital, Pfaff was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of Methamphetamine and three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
