Jasper Man Arrested on Six Impaired Driving and Possession Charges After Thursday Night Wreck

Jasper - A Jasper man is behind bars for drunk driving and drug charges after a Thursday night wreck in Jasper.


Thursday night, just before 9:00 p.m., the Jasper Police Department was dispatched to Springs Valley Bank at the intersection of 15th St. and Newton St. for a reported single-vehicle accident with injuries.

Officers identified the driver as James Taves II, 42, of Jasper, whom was driving on a suspended license. At that time, officers suspected Taves to be under the influence.

According to the police report, Taves was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he tested positive for a number of substances. In addition, marijuana, methamphetamine, and heroin was found on Taves’ person as well as heroin in his vehicle.

Taves was charged with driving while suspended prior, OWI, OWI endangerment, possession of marijuana, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of methamphetamine
