Jasper Man Accused of Battery, Strangulation
Jasper- Multiple people called in a domestic dispute on Wednesday.
Jasper Police say they responded to multiple calls about a domestic dispute happening near 47th street. While officers were in transit, another caller advised dispatch that the accused male had left the scene in a white SUV.
A conservation officer attempted to pull over the SUV for a traffic violation, but the driver, 44-year-old Mark Alexander, refused to do so. Alexander led police on a brief pursuit before being detained and transported to the Jasper Police Department.
While in Jasper Police custody, officers say Alexander damaged a holding cell door.
Over the course of their investigation, police say Alexander battered and strangled a female victim. Officials also say he prevented her from calling 911.
Alexander is being held in the Dubois County Security Center on charges of Felony Battery, Strangulation, and Resisting Law Enforcement. He also faces misdemeanor Criminal Mischief and Interfering with Reporting a Crime. He also has a warrant from Martin County for Fraud.
