Jaspe FD Release More Information in Tuesday Fire

Jasper- A Birk Drive residence caught fire Tuesday in Jasper.

Reports began coming in around 1:00 PM EST.

Jasper Fire Chief Kenny Hochesang says the home's owner, identified by him as Mrs. Wright, had heard a loud noise near her dryer and saw fire and smoke.

“She did try to make her way outside,” said Chief Hochesang, “She gathered her two dogs. One of them (dogs) she was able to receive, the other she could not.”

The fire was called in by one of Jasper’s fire fighters, said Hochesang. That fire fighter was driving by when he noticed the fire.

Crews were on scene for around an hour and a half according to Chief Hochesang. Fire Fighters returned to the home later to ensure there was no rekindling.

“There’s no concerns,” said Hochesang, “We went back an hour and a half later and we checked the home with a thermal camera. There was nothing that indicated any heat.”

Assisting the Jasper Fire Department on scene were the Jasper Police Department, Indiana State Police, Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service, and Jasper Electric Department.
