ISP: Loogootee Father Arrested for Felony Neglect

Loogootee- State Police detectives and officers arrested a Loogootee father after a neglect investigation.

ISP-Jasper posted on their Facebook page an investigation began on June 8th after a tip was submitted by the Martin County Department of Child Services(DCS). DCS officials say they were contacted by Riley Children’s Hospital after a 4-month-old child was brought to them, suffering severe burns.

ISP Detective Sergeant Brock Werne led the investigation. Sergeant Werne and Martin County DCS made contact with the child’s father, 25-year-old Clint Sadler. Sadler said twice the child suffered the burns while playing outside for an hour. Werne and DCS would leave the residence, but continue their investigation.

Werne would return later and again speak with Sadler, who had a different story. Sadler admitted to the ISP Sergeant he was cooking on the stove and accidentally spilled boiling water on the child.

Eleven days after the initial contact with Sadler, an arrest warrant was issued and executed by Detective Sergeant Werne and Master Trooper Jared Lents. Sadler was located at his work and was arrested without incident.

He faces a Level 3 Felony Neglect of a Dependent, resulting in serious bodily injury charge.
