Intergenerational event planned for Celestine
Celestine- A game get-together for Baby Boomers and middle- and high-schoolers is set for Sunday, Sept. 10, at Celestine Park.
The activity, sponsored by Dubois County CARES, will take place from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
Any Baby Boomer or teenager from Dubois County is invited to attend this free event. Participants are invited to bring playing cards or board games to share.
The Dubois County Coalition for Adolescent Resilience and Empowerment Strategies encourages youth to be alcohol- and drug-free through a variety of services, resources and activities.
In an annual survey, the majority of students in grades six through 12 in Dubois County said they do not believe people in their neighborhood are proud of them, and neighbors do not let them know when they do a good job or encourage them to do their best. It is hoped that through activities such as the Get-toGamer, adolescents will realize how broad their community of support is. As a protective factor, that would help offset risk factors for substance and alcohol use.
Reservations for the Get-toGamer are not necessary. For more information, call 812-827-8464 or email [email protected].
