INDIANA STATE POLICE PURSUIT RESULTS IN ARREST
A Saturday evening, March 8th, pursuit initiated by the Indiana State Police resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old Cloverdale man.
Probationary Trooper Logan McDowell was on traffic patrol along I-69 in Bloomington near the 122 mile marker when a black Audi A4S traveled northbound at more than 100 miles per hour. Probationary Trooper McDowell activated his red/blue lights to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as Kyle J. Sims, Age 18, of Cloverdale, refused to stop. Speeds exceeded 120 miles per hour, and Sims attempted to evade Probationary Trooper by shutting off his vehicle lights.
According to Probationary Trooper McDowell, the Audi exited the interstate at the Sample Road ramp and finally came to a stop where he initiated a traffic stop. Along with Sims, there were two additional passengers in the Audi. Sims was arrested without incident, and transported to the Monroe County Jail where his custody was transferred on the following charges:
- Resisting Law Enforcement (Traffic), a Level 6 Felony
- Reckless Driving, a Class C Misdemeanor
Sims is also facing other traffic-related charges.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
