Indiana Secretary of State Holli Sullivan announces statewide listening tour beginning in southern, central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Secretary of State Holli Sullivan has launched a statewide listening tour to connect with and hear from local election officials. Since the tour began last month Secretary Sullivan has already met with several county clerks in southern and central Indiana:

The listening tour will continue over the next several weeks. Sullivan says collaboration with officials is essential to maintaining voter confidence.

“On my first day in office I began communicating with county clerks, commissioners and various stakeholders involved in Indiana elections,” said Sullivan. “The successful administration of Indiana’s 2020 elections demonstrated local officials’ considerable expertise and commitment to providing Hoosiers with safe and secure elections. Their tireless efforts ensured a sound voting environment during the unprecedented pandemic, which presented numerous unforeseen challenges.”

Sullivan’s top priorities for the Secretary of State’s Office are election integrity, security and voter confidence for all Hoosiers. Last month, she announced the creation of a new position – Director of Election Modernization, Administration and Special Projects – to work in conjunction with the Indiana Election Division and collaborate with local officials, designing and implementing election administration and education efforts across the state.

“First and foremost, Indiana elections must be safe and secure,” said Sullivan. “My team and I will work to provide Hoosiers with continued confidence that every vote they cast – in local, statewide and national elections – will be counted and counted correctly.”
