Indiana Department of Health Updates COVID Advisory Map, 21 Counties Under Red

Statewide - Today, the Indiana Department of Health provided its weekly COVID-19 advisory map - showing 21 counties now under a Red Advisory. 


Across the state, 2,952 Hoosiers tested positive for COVID-19 in today's update; a total of eight more counties were marked as red.

In Southwestern Indiana, Orange, Lawrence, Crawford, Pike Warrick, Gibson, and Posey were the seven counties showing under the highest advisory, among 21 statewide. Just three counties - Monroe, Porter, and LaGrange - were "Yellow". The remaining 68 counties are marked as "Orange". 

In last week's update, 13 counties - including Knox, Orange, Lawrence, Warrick, Spencer, and Posey - are currently under a Red Advisory. Only four counties across Indiana are under a Yellow Advisory. The remaining 75 show as Orange.

With just 16 positive cases, Dubois County marked its lowest total in the month of September.

The Indiana Department of Health announced today that 2,952 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 889,362 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

To date, 14,258 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, which includes 86 deaths that occurred between Aug. 21 and Sept. 7 but were newly reported to the state. Another 451 probable deaths have been reported to date based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.    

A total of 4,001,012 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 3,995,480 on Tuesday. A total of 12,627,901 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Hoosiers age 12 and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine; individuals younger than age 18 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine only. To find a vaccination clinic near you, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211 if you do not have access to a computer or require assistance. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted at most sites.

The Indiana Department of Health is deploying mobile clinics to the following counties this week to provide testing and vaccinations: Allen, Cass, DeKalb, Elkhart, Fayette, Franklin, Fulton, Gibson, Hamilton, Harrison, Howard, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Orange, Parke, Pike, Porter, Pulaski, Putnam, Scott, Shelby, Tippecanoe and Wayne.
