Illinois Man Arrested on Six Charges in Monday Jasper Domestic Incident

Jasper - An Illinois man was arrested on six charges for a Monday domestic incident in the presence of children in Jasper.


At 4:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon, Jasper Police received two 9-1-1 hang-up calls from a number associated with a Jasper address.

Officers arrived at the address and learned that Micka Koger, 28, of Belleville, Illinois, had strangled his child's mother at least four times. According to police, one of the times that Koger was "choking" his victim, he was holding his one-month-old child. A four-year-old was also present during the domestic violence incident.

Allegedly, while the victim was attempting to call law enforcement, Koger knocked the phone out of her hands to prevent her from calling for help.

Police say that the victim did have a protection order against Koger.

During the investigation, Officers found one gram of marijuana next to Koger.

Koger was arrested and charged with: Strangulation, Domestic Battery, Interference of Reporting a Crime, Neglect of a Dependent, Invasion of Privacy, and Possession of Marijuana.
