Heartland Half Marathon, 5K, Team Challenge & Kids Fun Run to Bring Excitement and Community to the Downtown Square

The Heartland Half Marathon, 5K, Team Challenge and Kids Fun Run, an eagerly anticipated event celebrating the spirit of community and fitness, is set to return to Jasper on Saturday, September 21, 2024, starting a new three-year circuit, that includes a Huntingburg route in 2025 and a Ferdinand route in 2026.

The Heartland Half Marathon, 5K, Team Challenge & Kids Fun Run event is not just a race; it's an experience that will bring excitement and sense of community to the recently revitalized downtown square. Beginning Friday, Sept. 20th, the Kids Fun Run and Festival will kick off the weekend with a tailgate theme, inviting the public to cheer on the kids as they complete their 1.1 mile run around the square.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the half marathon and team challenge participants will lace up their running shoes to embark on a 13.1-mile adventure through the scenic landscapes and parks of Jasper. The newly unveiled route showcases the beauty of Jasper, weaving through its iconic landmarks, tranquil parks, and vibrant neighborhoods.

Runners will start and end their journey around the recently revitalized, downtown Courthouse square.  The participants will wind along the Jasper Riverwalk, with the waters reflecting the morning sun of the Patoka River. As the race progresses, participants will traverse through the beautiful countryside, before a lap around the popular Parklands of Jasper, a premier 75 acre nature park. Runners will finish the route back on the popular Jasper Riverwalk, finishing right where they began their journey, in the heart of downtown Jasper. Click here for map

The 5K route also begins in the heart of downtown Jasper, taking the runners along the Jasper Riverwalk and circling back around to pass the popular Spirit of Jasper Train Depot & River Centre, bringing the runners back onto the Riverwalk & finishing around the downtown courthouse square. Click here for route.

The Heartland Half Marathon is more than just a race; it's a celebration of community, health, and the spirit of Jasper. With its stunning new route, this year's event promises to be an unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike.

Be sure to sign up today! The Registration Fees are as follows:

  • Half Marathon: $60 now until June 30. The fee will increase to $70 starting July 1 and then again to $80 on August 26 until race day.
  • 5K: $25 now until June 30. The fee will increase to $30 July 1 until race day.
  • Team Challenge: $30 per person/$120 per team until June 30. July 1, the fee increases to $35 per person/ $140 per team until race day.
  • Kids Fun Run: $10 until Race Day. *does not include t-shirt. T-Shirts can be ordered until Aug. 26th for and additional $10.

The Heartland event is grounded with community support as 10% of the Heartland Half Marathon, 5K, and Team Challenge goes into the DC Multisport Endowment for succession planning of the organization and future charitable donations. The rest of the proceeds from Heartland Half Marathon, 5K, and Team Challenge are split evenly and given to the Phillip R. Dawkins Heart & Vascular Center and Girls on the Run of Southwest Indiana.
