Heart of Jasper Receives Taking Care of Main Street Grant

Jasper- Heart of Jasper receives $5,652 from the Taking Care of Main Street Grant.

The objectives of this grant is: To support Indiana Main Street organizations that provide quality activities to the public following the Main Street Approach™, with special attention to organizations and communities who are currently Indiana Accredited or Nationally Accredited and need financial assistance for program capacity building in order to stay at their current level or move to the Nationally Accredited level. By providing this financial assistance, Main Street organizations will be able to provide direct assistance to the economic development growth in their community, including business retention and recruitment, organizational growth, transformation strategy implementation and more.  Awarded communities will be required to send back measurable tracked statistics. 

The funds received from this grant allows Heart of Jasper to expand marketing and communication strategies. Heart of Jasper hired a part time social media contractor, Gillian Blessinger. Gillian serves on the Promotion Committee for Heart of Jasper. With her expertise in public relations, the Heart of Jasper board felt that Gillian was a great fit to support the needs of Heart of Jasper. Gillian will help Heart of Jasper with consistent communication on social media platforms and print media to educate and inform the community on the happenings in the downtown.

The Taking Care of Main Street grant is beneficial to Heart of Jasper as it helps cover organizational costs allowing for those dollars to be spent in programming and projects.
