Heart of Jasper Announces Summer Pop-Up Markets

Jasper - Heart of Jasper Director Kate Schwenk recently spoke with WITZ's Melanie Arehart, announcing Pop-Up Markets coming to downtown Jasper this summer.

Keeping in line with the Heart of Jasper's mantra of "Art, Entertainment, and Dining" towards filling vacant buildings, the nonprofit group has set its sights on the Sternberg's Building this summer.

"The Sternberg brothers graciously allowed us to do this project in there temporarily," said Schwenk. "If the building sells in the mean time, that's great, we'll pop up the market somewhere else.

While the Pop-Up Markets will make use of vacant space and generate tax revenue, it's most valuable contribution to the community may be the chance it gives to small entrepreneurs.

"It's going to give a chance for these small entrepreneurs for a place to sell a product, and network with other people," Schwenk said. "Hopefully it will drive more business to them too."

The Heart of Jasper have announced a line-up consisting of ten local businesses for both the June and July Markets.

1. Muddy Pearl - Pottery

2. Hoosier Blooms - Flowers

3. Strasse Pops - Popsicles

4. Mya's Candy Clouds - Cotton Candy

7. Artsie April Design - Glass Blown Artwork

8. SweetBees Studio - Handsewn Items
