PARKE COUNTY -- A food truck worker at the Covered Bridge Festival had hepatitis A and might have spread it to others, says the Parke Co. Health Dept.

The person worked at Deno's Concession Food Truck in Bridgeton. The truck was there from Oct. 16 to Oct. 20.

The health department says the risk of getting sick is "very low" and they're working with the food truck owner to prevent new infections.

More than 2,200 people in Indiana have been diagnosed with hepatitis A since a statewide outbreak was declared in November 2017. Four people have died.

Hepatitis A is a highly contagious viral infection of the liver. It's often spread when someone consumes food or drinks prepared by someone who is infected. It can also be transmitted through personal contact with a sick person, including sex.

Symptoms may take 15 and 50 days to appear and include: abdominal pain or discomfort; clay-colored bowel movements; dark urine; fatigue; intense itching; joint pain; and loss of appetite.
