Former Hoosier Governor Files for Presidential Campaign
Local Sources- A former Indiana Governor and Vice President is making his run for president in 2024.
Mike Pence filed paperwork today he will be running in the republican primary for president. Pence recently served as Vice President to former President Donald Trump from 2016-2020.
The end of Pence’s VP term came with controversy after the events of January 6th, 2021. It is alleged then President Trump asked Pence not to validate the election of Joe Biden.
Controversy continued after the events of January 6th. Pence refused to testify before a committee about President Trump’s actions on the day and was found to have classified government documents inside his home. No criminal charges were filed against him for those documents.
Pence served as Indiana’s Governor from 2013-2017.
Pence is the 10th republican to put his name in the primary. He faces Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Former President Trump, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, Texas business man Ryan Binkley, California Governor Candidate Larry Elder, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, Michigan Governor hopeful Perry Johnson, Pharmaceutical CEO Vivek Ramaswamy, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.
