Ferdinand Man Arrested in New Year's Day Altercation

On January 1st, Ferdinand Police, with the assistance of Dubois County Sheriff's Deputies, were called at around 4:00 p.m. to a West 9th Street location in reference to a domestic situation involving a juvenile male and female.

While meeting with the juveniles in question, officers learned that the initial incident had occurred at a Main Street address. After an investigation is was learned that four individuals had been involved - a 16-year-old male, 14-year-old female, a 40-year-old male, and a 42-year-old female.

40-year-old Shaun Mehling of Ferdinand was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Domestic Battery, Strangulation, and Provocation.

The Indiana Department of Child Services assisted in the investigation.
