Ferdinand Kiwanis American Flags Project
Ferdinand- The Ferdinand Kiwanis is gearing up for their 2023 Avenue of American Flags Project.
Last year 195 flags were placed throughout the town. Renewal emails are being sent to last year’s participants that shared their email addresses. Letters are being sent to those who did not share their email addresses. Replies are to be made by May15th.
This year, the Kiwanis will once again accept new participants. Participants must be within the town limits of Ferdinand. New subscription requests can be sent to the Kiwanis Club of Ferdinand, PO Box 83, Ferdinand, IN. 47532. Please include name, address, phone number, and email address, along with a $40 check made payable to Kiwanis Club of Ferdinand. We also need to know if you have an invisible fence or sprinkler system present in your yard.
The Ferdinand Kiwanis American Avenue of Flags Project places flags at residences and businesses on six flag holidays: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day through September 11th, and Veteran’s Day. Last year, the vast majority of flags were replaced with new flags. The $5 cost increase this year has to do with increased costs in materials.
Profits from the project go towards the schools within the SE Dubois School Corporation, the Heimatfest Teen Ambassador scholarships, and the Birdseye and Ferdinand town libraries.
Inquiries about the American Avenue of Flags Project can be sent to [email protected], the Kiwanis Club of Ferdinand Facebook page, or calls made to Peggy Huff at (812)-686-6574. All renewal and new participants need to send in information and a $40 check by May 15th.
