Ferdinand- The Ferdinand Public Library has released their list of August Events.
Ice Cream Party: 8/9 Noon-3PM All ages can stop by for some ice cream treats while supplies last. Games will also be laid out for all to play! The new electronic game table is also available!
Kids Canvas Painting: 8/8 3:30 PM or 6PM Paint a ‘Wildflower Pathway’. *Registration required at www.jdcpl.us
Stories For Littles/Family Storytime: (Thursdays 8/4, 8/11, 8/18, 8/25 at 10AM) Enjoy stories, songs & crafts.
Afternoon Book Club: 8/4 2-3:30PM All are welcome. Contact Library for more information.
Basement Book Sale: The Friends of the Ferdinand Library Book Sale will be Saturday, August 13th from 10-1PM. Enter the Library as normal or the outside entrance by the Ferdinand Community Center. Paperbacks sell for fifty cents and most hardbacks sell for one dollar. There are other treasures like puzzles available as well. Donations of gently used books are always welcomed.
Felt Flower/Shaker Craft: 8/25 6PM Adults/Teens will make felt flowers in a shaker. Registration required.
Evening Book Club: 8/24 6:30PM All are welcome. Contact Library for more information.
Smile Month: Come in and get a smile stickers, bookmark, token, coin, etc. and register to win a stuffed animal!
Loom Weaving: A giant loom will be set up in the Programming Room to do a collaborative piece. Come in and try your hand!
Bee/Butterfly Waterer: Stop by and pick up a ‘Waterer’ Kit while supplies last.
Encourage’mint’: Everyone can always use a little encouragement. Stop by for a mint while supplies last!
Where Does Your Money Go? Workshop: 8/4 & 8/18 Chelsea Brewer from Purdue Extension of Dubois County will be facilitating this two-part workshop. It is designed to help you better understand how you spend your money. Questions to be answered include: Is there ever enough? Where did it go? Where should I spend it? How do I make a plan?
Keep Calm & Carry Yarn: 8/29 6-7PM Bring your yarn projects to work on in the Programming Room the fourth Monday monthly from 6-7PM. There will also be round looms available to check out and use.
Colorburst Teddy Workshop: 8/22 3:30 & 6PM Participants can stuff and tie-dye their own Teddy Bear. Registration required at www.jdcpl.us
1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program – Participate in our new Early-Youth Reading Program, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten! Hundreds of libraries across the nation are using this program to promote reading & literacy to newborns, infants, and toddlers. Library Of Things: The Ferdinand Library has a variety of ‘Things’ that are free to checkout with a valid library card. Items include: a portable DVD player, an acoustic guitar, portable cornhole game, badminton sets, tumbling blocks, a sewing machine, a loom, a microscope, ukuleles, dulcimers, a paper crafting kit, a drill, a laminator, kalimba, singing bowls, wooden musical spoons, free tickets to the Dubois County Museum, a c.d. player, etc. Search ‘library of things’ on the catalog at www.jdcpl.us to see a list of all items available.
Libby: Libby is a free app where you can borrow select from thousands of ebooks, digital audiobooks, online courses, music lessons and magazines. This includes streaming services like IndieFlix & Qello Concerts. The online courses include ArtistWorks, LearnItLIve, The Great Courses, Universal Class and Craftsy. Simply download the Libby App on your device. Sign in with your free library card. Add Jasper-Dubois County Contractual Public Library as the Indiana Digital Library.

The Ferdinand Library’s hours are Monday thru Thursday, 9am-8pm (EST) and Friday thru Saturday, 9am-5pm (EST).
