Environmental Groups Move to Halt Progress of Proposed Mid-State's Corridor Project Through Our Area

FROM LOCAL SOURCES

JASPER -- Plans for a Mid-State’s Corridor through our area has an obstacle in its path.

A coalition of environmental groups is asking INDOT to stop with its planned highway that would connect Rockport and Jasper to I-69.

The groups say the highway will not only disrupt forests, but caves in the area as well.

Some local farmers are also speaking out against the plan.  They fear the roadway could go through their family farms.

The highway has been on the minds of Indiana and Kentucky officials for years. They're closing in on picking a route and a design for the corridor.
