Enhanced Risk of Severe Weather Thursday; Storms, Wind and Tornadoes All Possible
AREA WIDE -- The area is under an ENHANCED RISK for severe weather today as a powerful storm system blows through.
Our area's best time to see severe weather will be about 11 a.m. and stretching into the afternoon, although I believe most severe weather will be early afternoon locally.
All of the threats are in play today; wind, rain, cloud-to-ground lightning, hail and tornadoes.
The big question is how much sunshine will we get between rain showers today. That will make a big difference for our severe weather threat. If the sun does come out, it can provide instability in the atmosphere and give storms the fuel they need to turn severe.
The National Weather Service recommends you have a plan of action in case a warning is issued for your area.
Stay with us through the day on-air and on our Facebook page. We will keep you posted on any watches, warnings or other emergency information that warrants.
