Dubois Library Announces January Events

Dubois - The Dubois Library has announced a January schedule of events.

The library will be closed on Jan. 1.

4-H Computer Science Fun - Monday, Jan 3 from 1-3 p.m.  Embark on a Galactic Quest with Lauren Fenneman of the Purdue Extension who will teach about computer science and participants will make a code bracelet to take home. Also learn about 4-H program.  This event is for kids in grades K-12. Registration is required

Adult Cricut Class  -  Monday, Jan 3 at 5 p.m. and Sat. Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. Learn the basics of the Cricut Maker to make a Vinyl Decal.  Must pre-register  (18+)

Story Time – Tuesday, Jan 4 at 11 a.m.  Join us for wintery stories, songs, and make a snowstorm sensory jar!  Ages 2-5  Older siblings are welcome.  No registration.

Teen Space – Tuesdays and Wednesday 3-5 p.m. Just hang out or participate in the activity of the day. Snacks provided.  No registration. For ages 11-18.

                        Wednesday, Jan 5 – tabletop games

                        Tuesday, Jan 11 – Reverse Book Club 

                        Wednesday, Jan 12 –  Share your writings

                        Tuesday, Jan 18 – Make a tie dye pencil case

                        Wednesday, Jan. 19 – Adulting 101 – make a budget

                        Tuesday, Jan 25 – Learn to use Krita to create digital art

                        Wednesday, Jan 26 – Video game day

Family Craft - Wednesday, Jan 5 at 6 p.m.  Create a friendly mixed media polar bear on a canvas! Open to all ages.  Must pre-register.

LEGO Club – Thursday, Jan 6 from 3-4 p.m.  This group is for students in grades K-5. Children 8 and under MUST have an adult in the library.  Must pre-register. 

Tie Dye Try Outs – Saturday, Jan 8 at 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. or 12:00 – 12:30 p.m.  Create a pair of shibori-inspired cloth napkins. This event is open to all ages. Must pre-register.

Bouncing Babies – Tuesday, Jan 11 at 11 a.m. and at 2:15 p.m.   Developing early literacy skills through movement, song, and fun for babies 0-2 years.  No registration required.  Older siblings welcomed.

Kids’ Painting Night – Wednesday, Jan 12 at 6 p.m.  Paint a wintery penguin. Ages 5-11. Must pre-register.

Rock Out with Rokenbok! – Friday, Jan 14, 21, 28 from 3-4 p.m.  Students in grades 6-8 will learn how to build remote controlled, simple machines in this 3-part robotics class.  Space is very limited, must pre-register.

The library is Closed on Jan. 17th for Martin Luther King Jr Day

Tiny Tot Playtime – Tuesday, Jan 18 at 11 a.m.  Bring your little one for a chance to socialize! No registration required.  Older siblings are welcomed. 

Adult Craft – Thursday, Jan 20 at 4 p.m. Paint rocks to create a “rock” cactus garden in a painted Terra Cotta pot.   Must pre-register.  (18+)

Saturday Craft – Saturday, Jan. 22 at 10:30 a.m.   Create colorful yarn-wrapped letters of your initials to hang at home.   Open to all ages. Must pre-register.

Music Makers – Tuesday, Jan 25 at 11:00 a.m. and at 2:15 p.m.   Exploring movement and rhythm through song! For infants - 4 years and their caregivers. No registration is necessary. Older siblings are welcome. 

End of the Month Book Club - Monday, Jan 31 at 6:30. Discussing “The Space Between Us” by Thrity Umrigar New members welcomed.
