Dubois County Substance Abuse Council Hires New Coordinator
Dubois Co.- The Dubois County Substance Abuse Council recently hired Courtney (Hagedorn) Drew as the group’s new coordinator.
The mission of the Dubois County Substance Abuse Council is to reduce substance abuse and the problems associated with substance abuse in Dubois County Youth and Adults in order to enhance family and community life.
The organization hired Drew with confidence that her experience serving her country in the Coast Guard and the county as a jailer at the Dubois County Security Center will allow her to further develop and improve the council’s efforts. Courtney is excited to start this role and become more involved in the community. In her 9 years of working at the Security Center, she encountered people with substance abuse problems and got to interact with them. Through these interactions, she came to understand the root cause of their substance misuse and resources they felt would aid sobriety. “I want people that are struggling with addiction to know that they are not alone, and we care about them. I will strive to do my best to help people in our community that are struggling with substance abuse,” says Drew.
The Dubois County Substance Abuse Council welcomes Courtney and cannot wait to see how her passion will guide the council. The public is invited to learn about the organization by attending their monthly meetings—the second Tuesday of every month, 11:00 a.m. EST, in the Hickory rooms of the Jasper Public Library.
