JASPER -- Dubois County could receive up to $8.3 million as part of American Rescue Plan Act.

The Free Press reports Commissioners received a list of items the money could be used for this week.

These include public safety expenses and other budgetary items related to the impact of the public health emergency created by the pandemic.

County officials can also use the funds for grants for business, nonprofits, and households impacted by the pandemic. Additionally, the money can be used for water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure.

The county is exploring the creation of a countywide sewer district and broadband access as they have been identified as issues for rural Dubois County residents.
