Dubois County Health Department Not Yet Offering COVID-19 Booster Shots

Jasper - On Friday, Dubois County Health Department Administrative Director Shawn Werner issued a statement in response to high call volumes regarding Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 booster shots.

The statement comes after the FDA advisory panel unanimously endorsed the Moderna “Booster”. Though, Werner says, that's only the first step in the process of offering the boosters to the public.

Werner says the next step would be on October 20-21, with the CDC ACIP meeting to issue recommendations for the Moderna and J&J booster doses. If CDC ACIP approves the Booster doses and the Dubois County Health Department receives directions from IDOH, the department will then be able to administer the Booster shots.

Werner advises that once the Dubois County Health Department receives such direction, they could then administer booster shots. Werner expects to issue a press release when shots are truly available.
