Local Sources- Several community events are scheduled this weekend.
Downtown Chowdown (June 1st)
The Downtown Chowdown is Thursday June 1st from 4:00-8:00pm. 13 food trucks will be parked in the parking lot of the Jasper Riverwalk (at the end of 4th street). Jed Guillaume will be performing in the gazebo on the Dave Buehler plaza. Picnic tables and benches are set up on the plaza. Yard games are open for play-horseshoes, corn hole and ping pong.

Tre’Vione’s Ribbon Cutting (June 1st)
Jasper’s newest restaurant will have their ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 1st with the Jasper Chamber of Commerce. Tre’Vione’s is a Cajun Style restaurant from Tell City that is located in the former Hosty’s building on Third Ave. The Ribbon Cutting is at 4:00 PM EST.
Movies at the Park (June 3rd)
The Kickball game starts at 6:30 PM and the Movie will start at dark. The FREE viewing of "The Sandlot" at Henke Stadium. Popcorn, candy and drinks are free! Sponsored by the Park Board and Holland Events Committee.
The Main Event Building Bash (June 3rd)
Join the celebration of three businesses in one location on Saturday, June 3rd! All three businesses are located in the Wood Capital Building in Jasper, IN.
Riah Jane & Co (609 Main Street) - Grand Opening from 10:00am-3:00pm! Register for a $100 e-gift card and the first 25 customers can create their own bouquet from Hoosier Blooms.
Merle Norman (607 Main Street) - 8 Year Anniversary - see the new updates to the store! Fettered Permanent Jewelry will be in-store from 9:30am-11:30am RSVP to reserve a time at [email protected]. Live music provided by Merle Norman will be Jon & Stacey by the fire pit!
Downtown Fitness & Running (605 Main Street) - Moved to a new store - Sydo's Cookie Co. will have a pop up. Purchase delicious cookies and shop for new shoes.
Disc Golf Tournament at Niehaus Golf Range (June 3rd)
A disc golf tournament is taking place at Niehaus Park on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4, 2023, the driving range and walking trail will be closed on Saturday, June 3 between 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 4 between 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Both amenities will re-open to the public on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Jasper Farmer’s Market (June 3rd)
The Jasper Indiana Farmers' Market is 8am-12pm and will continue for the next several weekends! Come and get fresh produce, local meats & dairy, handmade items, and much more. The Farmers Market will now take place behind the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center off 4th street!
Paul Klem Memorial Fishing Tournament (June 3rd)
Anglers 17 and Under are invited to attend the 2023 Paul Klem Memorial Fishing Tournament at the Jasper Outdoor Recreation Center. Participants must bring their own fishing pole and bait.

Discover Dairy Day (June 3rd)
Discover Dairy Day will be Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is a FREE event at the Dubois County Museum. Abby Lueken of Lueken Dairy Farms will be reading a special book at 11:00 a.m. and again at 1:00 p.m. called Tales of the Dairy Godmother Chuck’s Ice Cream Saga by Wanda Butler.
There are also many activities for the day:

A variety of dairy foods will be available (while supplies last) of milk, yogurt, ice cream, root beer floats, cheese, and butter, Also on hand will be Wood Capital Pizza and Jasper FFA preparing pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches for purchase.
Rearview: A tribute to Pearl Jam at the Lincoln Amphitheatre (June 3rd)
No strangers to the Lincoln Amphitheatre, Rearview (then named Pearl Jam Tribute Chicago) performed a full acoustic set at the Lincoln Amphitheatre to a limited capacity, but sold out, and amazingly excited and receptive audience during the summer of 2020. Back (and fully electric) for round two in 2023 at 7:30 PM, Rearview is the midwest's premier tribute to one of the greatest and most influential American rock bands of all time. Comprised of not just excellent musicians, but huge fans of Pearl Jam's vast and wildly popular catalog of music, Rearview strives to give the audience the sound, feel, and everything that has come to be expected of a Pearl Jam live experience.
St. Joseph Catholic Church Picnic (June 4th)
The public is invited to attend the church picnic at St. Joseph Catholic Church. There will be food options from chicken dinners, pulled pork, hamburgers, homemade chips, tacos, pupusas, ice cream, and lemonade shake ups. There will be games for kids and adults.
YMI Chicken Dinners (June 4th)
The Mariah Hill YMI Council will have BBQ and Grilled Chicken Dinners on Sunday June 4th at the Mariah Hill BallPark concessions stand. Carryout dinners will include baked beans and potato salad.
Serving will start at 11:30 local time, 10:30 Central time.
- 1/2 Chicken Dinner: $12
- 1/2 Chicken Only: $7
YMI proceeds are used for area community needs including the Park Board, Churches, 4-H, Special Olympics and a $500 scholarship.
Anneliese Krauter at the Dubois County Museum (June 4th)
The Jasper German Club and the Dubois County Museum are hosting published author, Anneliese Krauter, at the museum on Sunday, June 4. The presentation will begin at 1:30pm. Krauter will recount her life’s story as a United States citizen and daughter of German Immigrants during the 1940’s. Her tale begins in her youth during the joyful and innocent days that change overnight with the bombing of Pearl Harbor, to her father’s suspicion of being a Nazi spy, her time in an internment camp in Texas, returning to Germany as German citizens to witness the end of the war, escaping Russian occupation of Germany and (finally) concluding with her return to the United States. She will speak and then will open it up for Questions and Answers. Jasper German Club and the Dubois County Museum are sponsoring free admission this day to the museum from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
