Driver Arrested after Fatal OWI Accident

Jasper- UPDATE: No OWI Charges have been filed by the prosecutor's office. 

According to Police, 20-year-old Martha Hale was arrested after a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash near Denny’s on Jasper’s northside early Thursday morning. Jasper officers report onsite treatment was done on the female victim, identified as Stephanie Taylor of Holland, until she was transported to the hospital. Hale was also transported to the hospital. Taylor would later die from her injuries.

Prior to towing Hale’s vehicle, an inventory of its contents was done by officers. Police say they located marijuana and paraphernalia inside. 

At the hospital, Hale would receive a presumptive positive test for marijuana.
