Daviess County Museum Readies Speaker Series
SLATE OF SPEAKERS SET TO VISIT MUSEUM
The Daviess County Museum will be hosting three special guest speakers for programs over the coming weeks. All museum programs are free to attend and open to the public. The museum is located at 212 E. Main St. in Washington, IN.
On Sunday, August 18, at 3 PM, Tommy Kleckner will be on site to talk about historic preservation of homes and buildings in the Daviess County area. Kleckner is the Western Regional Office director of Indiana Landmarks, a non-profit organization that specializes in restoring and reviving historic properties. He will be discussing ongoing efforts in Daviess County and answering questions about your current or planned restoration projects.
Internationally-published comics artist John K. Snyder III visits the museum on Thursday, August 26 at 6:30 PM to discuss his career and his childhood growing up in Washington. Snyder has drawn and written for numerous well-known properties including Doctor Mid-Nite, Suicide Squad, and many others in a career has spanned nearly 40 years. He has also created his own independent works, such as his breakthrough series “Fashion in Action.”
Archaeology takes center stage on Sunday, September 15, as Curtis Tomak visits the museum at 3 PM. Tomak was the longtime archaeologist for the Indiana Highway Department, where he specialized in Native American artifacts. In the early 1970s, he was one of the Indiana University students who assisted with the Prairie Creek archaeological dig in Daviess County. Visitors are encouraged to bring artifacts to the program for Tomak to identify and discuss.
