Crews Respond to Early Accident near Schnellville
Dubois County- Crews are on scene of a semi and car involved accident near Pine Ridge Elementary.
The Schnellville Fire Department was first on scene at the intersection of Pine Ridge Road and State Road 64. Early reports say the crash involved a semi hauling explosive material and another vehicle.
Around 7:15AM the Schnellville Fire Department requested a second ambulance and Hazmat Crews for the truck. Injuries, if any, have not been disclosed, nor has a cause of the collision.
The roadway will be closed an extended period of time according to the Dubois County Sheriff's Office.
The Indiana State Police provided the following update:
"Earlier this morning, the Indiana State Police & Dubois County Sheriff's Department responded to State Road 64 near Pine Ridge Road in Dubois County for a two-vehicle fatal crash. ISP Crash Reconstructionist & Commercial Vehicle Inspectors are on scene trying the determine the cause of the crash. More will be released on this when it becomes available. Two people inside the passenger vehicle died on scene due to their injuries from the impact. Another occupant of the passenger vehicle was taken to Nortons Hospital in Louisville and is listed in 'Critical Condition.' The tanker truck driver was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville and is listed in 'Stable Condition.' Impairment is not believed to be a factor. Death Notifications have been made. The identity of those deceased will be made available as soon as practical."
The investigation is still on going and more information will be released later.
