Jasper- Sitting off Third Ave. on Jasper’s East side, was once an empty building waiting for someone to bring it back to life.
After months of searching for that someone, the former Azura Cafe and Grill found their next owners. While Azura is no longer the name of the business, the new owners have kept the theme of having traditional breakfast and American cuisine within the walls.
Bisim, or B, came to the United States twenty-three years ago, leaving his home country of Macedonia. Upon arrival at his new home, he began working in the restaurant industry.
“After we moved from Rockville (IN), I was looking for a place,” B said, “We found this spot here. Just perfect for us and I like the community.”
B and his family staff the restaurant along with friends and a few members of the community. His staff is a blessing, according to him.
“I’ve been blessed with my wife and my children. They help a lot and friends and other local community members.” He shared.
The Jasper Chamber welcomed the restaurant at a Tuesday afternoon ribbon cutting. City of Jasper’s Lisa Bower presented B and his family with the ceremonial $2 bill, which is customary for the chamber.
Rumors of a potential Greek Restaurant taking the place of Azura can best be explained by a misunderstanding. Family say they are from the Greek area of Europe, but the food served at Cranberries is more American style.
Cranberries Family Restaurant is open from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM est.
