Courthouse Square Infrastructure and Revitalization Update: May 4th
Jasper- A few updates on the Courthouse Square Infrastructure & Revitalization Project.
- The construction crew is pouring curbs and sidewalks in the SW quadrant.
- A subcontractor will be making repairs to below ground openings in some buildings.
- The alley east of The Astra will be closed beginning Monday, May 8th for reconstruction and will remain closed for at least eight weeks. The alley north of The Astra is open.
- Landscaping will be added in the NE and NW quadrants in select in-ground planters and above-ground planters. Annuals are only being added at this time. Perennials and trees will be planted in the fall.
- Water bollards, benches, bike racks, and trash cans will be added to the north half of the Square in the coming weeks.
- Lighting poles for placement around the fire pit should arrive in 4 weeks. The screen for the fire pit is also expected to be installed in the next few weeks.
- Access to the lower level of the Courthouse on the west side is now closed to the public.
- The parking lot adjacent to City Hall remains available for 2-hour public parking.
- Foot traffic and accessibility to building entrances will be maintained at all times.
- The next meeting with contractor representatives is Wednesday, May 17.
