Coronavirus Dashboard Update: More Southwestern Indiana Counties Now Under a "Yellow" COVID Advisory
By Kris Norton
Indiana - In this week's update from the Indiana Department of Health's Online COVID-19 Tracker, the database shows four counties under an "Orange Advisory"; over half of the counties in the state are under a "Yellow Advisory".
According to the tracker, the state's Orange metric only represented three counties. Now four are on the list - Gibson, Knox, Newton, and Montgomery Counties.
As of Wednesday, 48 counties now meet the positivity rate and cases-per-100,000 thresholds to be marked Yellow.
In Southwestern Indiana, Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Pike, Spencer, Perry, Crawford, Harrison, Lawrence, Floyd, Orange and Washington Counties are all among the 48.
Previous Update (7/15/2021):
The Indiana Department of Health's online COVID tracker now shows three Indiana counties are currently under an "Orange" level advisory, 25 counties under a "Yellow" advisory or higher.
The Orange Advisory denotes a county that has either 100-199 new cases per 100,000 residents or a test positivity rate between 10-14.9%. As of Wednesday's update, Gibson County was the only county in southwestern Indiana to meet both criteria. In last week's media update, Gibson County was one of four counties identified as having outbreaks attributed to congregate facilities.
Surrounding counties - Warrick, Vanderburgh, and Posey - have been assigned a Yellow Advisory.
