CONSERVATION RESOURCE FAIR AUGUST 19TH

Washington- The Daviess-Martin CISMA is excited to host a Conservation Resource Fair, Saturday August 19th, from 10am to Noon at the Washington Conservation Club (350 W 150 S Washington, IN).

The event is free to attend, and will feature booths and displays from a variety of Conservation agencies and partners, including the Indiana DNR, Hoosier National Forest, Purdue Extension, Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs), USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, and Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever.  Learn about tree and invasive plant ID, landscaping with native plants, prescribed fire, herbicide safety, soil health, and forestry management.  Check out wildlife furs with DNR Conservation Officers, live fish from the East Fork Fish Hatchery, and tools of the trade used to control invasive plants with Glendale Fish & Wildlife Managers.  Nature crafts will be available for kids and adults can signup to win door prizes. Event managers are also looking for any food trucks interested in participating at the event.

The CISMA, or Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area, is a local partnership started in 2018 by the Daviess and Martin County SWCDs.  The CISMA’s mission is to educate, assist, and connect people to protect our native wildlife and habitats from the impacts of invasive species.  This is the second Conservation Resource Fair they have held, with the goal of connecting landowners with conservation professionals to learn about the resources and tools available for invasive species control and natural resource management.
