CODE RED: 74 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Dubois County Thursday

JASPER -- 74 new cases are being reported today in Dubois County.

It brings our total to 3,703since the start of the pandemic.

There were no new deaths reported today.  Our death toll stands at 35.

Dubois County has a seven-day positivity rate of 18.9%  That’s up slightly from  Wednesday’s 18.1%.

Dubois and Daviess counties are under a CODE RED designation.  All of the other counties in our listening area are at CODE ORANGE.


INDIANA STATEWIDE NUMBERS:

The Indiana Department of Health today announced that 6,458 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 447,190 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 6,860 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 79 from the previous day. Another 320 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.           

To date, 2,477,734 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,461,562 on Wednesday. A total of 5,102,994 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26.


DISTRICT 10 ICU CAPACITY:   District 10 includes Dubois, Daviess, Martin, Pike, Perry, and Spencer Counties and points west.

District 10 ICU beds are filling up and the numbers are going in the wrong direction. 

In District 10, about 10% of the ICU beds were available as of the latest update.  That's down from over 11% Wednesday.

That amounts to around 220 open ICU beds for the entire district, which includes Dubois, Daviess, Martin, Pike, Perry, and Spencer Counties and points west.

Around 74% of the district’s ventilators are currently available.  That’s around 350 machines.

To preserve hospital bed and staff capacity, all non-emergent procedures should be postponed through January 3rd, if possible.
