City of Loogootee Issues Boil Water Advisory
Loogootee - The City of Loogootee Water Works Department is repairing a water main break on East Washington Street. Customers affected by the water main repairs are as follows;
- All Loogootee customers on Belgrade Drive, Belgrade Avenue, and Bloomfield Road that have temporarily lost water pressure and or service.
- If you have not lost water service or water pressure, and are on East Fork Water Utilities this boil order does not apply to you.
These customers are now under a precautionary boil water order. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) require all public water supplies to issue a boil order advisory when the water pressure drops below 20psi in the water main.
Boil order instructions are as follow;
- Immediately after water pressure is restored, run cold water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet.
- Boil the drinking water for 5 minutes prior to consumption.
- It is recommended that all water used for consumption, cooking, and oral hygiene be brought to a full boil for 5 minutes. It is not necessary to boil water for other uses.
The results of the water samples and lifting the boil order advisory will be advertised through the local media and Facebook.
