Car Slams into Historic Building, No One Hurt But Shop Sustained Damage
WFIE-TV CONTRIBUTED TO THIS REPORT
NEWBURGH -- An historic building in Newburgh suffered damage after a car drove into it Thursday afternoon.
It happened around 1 p.m. at The Refinery coffee shop on West Jennings Street.
C. Larry Rhodes owns the building. He tells WFIE-TV the driver hit the gas pedal instead of the breaks near the front entrance and slammed into the porch of the building.
The damage is mostly cosmetic to the front porch. A couple of tow trucks were needed to drag that SUV out.
Employees tell us everyone is okay, but there is damage to the building.
The building will remain open but customers are being asked to enter through the back entrance until repairs are made.
