JASPER -- Memorial Hospital in Jasper has tested 134 people for the virus as of Wednesday afternoon.

9 tests were positive, 85 were negative and results are pending on an additional 40.

Dr. Kristina Box, the state health commissioner, says Indiana has received 15 new coronavirus testing machines. These machines can test an individual and get results in 15-30 minutes. Box says the company that supplied the machines will be giving the state more cartridges in the near future so more tests can be conducted.

The Dubois County Health Department continues to encourage residents to assume all people are potentially spreading the COVID-19 virus.

Local officials add: stay home, practice social distancing and good hand hygiene.  If you do have to go out, cover your face with a cloth mask.
