Bridge Rehab Scheduled for SR 68 near Dale

SPENCER COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a complete road closure for a bridge rehabilitation project on State Road 68 near Dale.

Beginning on or around Wednesday, May 12, contractors will close the S.R. 68 bridge spanning the North Fork of Little Pigeon Creek between S.R. 161 and U.S. 231 for rehabilitation. Workers will be performing a deck overlay project as part of regular scheduled maintenance of the bridge. This project will provide motorists with a new driving surface and will extend the life of the substructure.

Depending upon weather conditions, work is expected to last for about a week. The road will be closed around the clock. During the project, local traffic will have access up to the point of closure, but through traffic will need to use the official detour following U.S. 231, I-64 and S.R. 161.

INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
