BREAKING NEWS: United States Calls For Pause in Administration of the New Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

BY: DAVID SHEPHERD

STATEWIDE -- The CDC and FDA have recommended the United States pause the use of the new Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

This comes after six Americans reported a rare and severe type of blood clot after receiving the vaccine.

Over 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered so far in the United States.  The six patients suffering from blood clots are all between the ages of 18 and 48.  They began falling ill six to thirteen days after receiving the vaccination.

The Dubois County Health Department has cancelled this weekend’s COVID-19 mass vaccination clinic at Jasper Middle School.

It was supposed to be a chance for county residents to get the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.  But now, health officials say a shipment of the vaccine, expected to arrive in the state this week, will not be arriving until "further notice".

Those who already have an appointment should receive a cancellation text or email.  All appointments for Saturday’s clinic are automatically cancelled.  Please do not call the Dubois County Health Department for this service.
