BREAKING: Gov. Holcomb Will Sign New Executive Order Due to Surge in COVID Cases
INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb says he will sign a new Executive Order in response to the spike in COVID cases statewide.
That Order would put new restrictions on counties that are under a CODE ORANGE or CODE RED designation.
For counties under a CODE ORANGE, like in Dubois County, crowd sizes will be limited to 50 people. The maximum will be 25 people for counties under CODE RED.
Indoor special, holiday and other events with expected crowds exceeding the limits must submit a plan to the local Health Department and get approval.
School sports will be limited to players, support staff and a parent(s).
Masks and social distancing will be required in public places. Businesses should deny entry to anyone not wearing a mask.
Capacity in common areas and break rooms should be reduced and users should be socially distanced.
In counties under a CODE RED, local officials may consider limiting hours for the operation of bars, nightclubs and restaurants.
The governor says he will make $20 Million available for local governments to execute mitigation efforts.
He is laying out more details now. We will update this story shortly.
State Health Commissioner, Dr. Kris Box, says hospitals are "inundated" with COVID cases throughout the state. Not a single county in the state falls under a CODE BLUE designation, as of Wednesday's update.
