BLOOMINGTON ISP DETECTIVES ARREST MURDER SUSPECT IN NORTH CAROLINA
Following a two-year investigation, Detectives from the Indiana State Police Bloomington Post Investigations Unit traveled to North Carolina and arrested a male subject for murder.
Kenron Laing, Age 24, of Crown Point, was arrested Thursday, November 14, on a murder warrant after being located at Fort Liberty in North Carolina. Detectives traveled to Fort Liberty, located northwest of Fayetteville to make the arrest, and Laing is awaiting extradition to Indiana. ISP detectives were contacted on November 2, 2022, to initiate an investigation following the shooting death of Gildardo Garcia Salina, who was 39 at the time. The shooting happened at Salina’s residence in the area of North Cataract Road and US231 in northern Owen County.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Salina was employed by a landscaping company and had worked at a hotel location that was frequented by Laing. After detectives conducted their two-year investigation, which included witness interviews and Crime Scene Investigators collecting and processing evidence, an arrest probable cause affidavit was presented to an Owen County judge for review. The arrest warrant was approved and detectives traveled to Fort Liberty. He was arrested, with assistance from the U.S. Army’s Criminal Investigation Division, without incident.
Detectives from the Bloomington Post’s Investigations Unit also traveled to Chicago for additional interviews. The case remains under investigation.
Kenron Laing, 24, has been arrested on the charge of Murder, a Felony.
