PERRY COUNTY -- New COVID cases are popping up at a long term care facility in Perry County.
Officials with the Oakwood Health Campus are reporting 21 new cases of the virus. That’s a significant spike in cases. Just yesterday, we told you one employee and one patient had tested positive.
Of the 21 new cases, nine are residents of the facility and 12 are employees.
"Testing is a key component in reducing asymptomatic viral spread," says state health commissioner, Dr. Kris Box. "That's why our strategy focuses on testing all staff of these facilities."
As we've reported, there have been infections reported at several Dubois County facilities as well.
All of those facilities are taking measures to help slow the spread of the virus.
