Area Elementary School Mourns Death of Kindergartner Killed After A Tree Fell on Her Saturday
FROM LOCAL SOURCES
WARRICK COUNTY -- Crisis counselors were on hand Monday at Oakdale Elementary School after a kindergartner there was killed over the weekend when a tree fell on her during a nature walk with a relative in Warrick County.
It happened just after 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of Maple Grove Road.
Elliana Cobb’s classmates are just five and six-years-old. Kendra Crews’ son was in little Elliana’s class.
She tells WFIE-TV, “We just said, ‘you know, Elliana from your class? She got in an accident yesterday, he was just 'like, oh... okay.' He kind of understood, but I don’t think he fully understands it yet,” Crews told 14 News.
A Gofundme page has been set up for the little girl’s family. According to that page, Cobb was taking a nature walk with a relative when she was hit and killed by the falling tree.
It’s already raised more than $15,000 to help with funeral expenses.
