ALERT: Scam Calls Targeting Martin County Residents, Asking For COVID-19 Relief Donations

MARTIN COUNTY -- Police in Martin County say a scammer is calling residents pretending to be from the local volunteer fire department raising money for COVID-19 relief efforts.

Officials say these calls are not coming from the fire department.

You’re asked to remain vigilant for an increase in scam calls connected to COVID-19.

Don’t fall for scams where people try to sell you cures for the virus.  None exist.

Also, never give personal information out over the phone and always do your homework before donating money to a charity.
