A Letter For The Community From Memorial Hospital
The year 2020 has been a challenge for all of us. As we head into the holiday season, we all want to find
some peace and tranquility that is the hallmark of this time of year, and we look forward to time spent
with family and friends and annual traditions. However, we know this year must be different. On behalf of the Medical Staff of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, we want to remind you
how important it is for ALL OF US to take the necessary steps in order to protect ourselves and each
other, reduce the coronavirus transmission in our community, and lower the number of Covid-19 cases
we have been experiencing. Our hospital and other hospitals in our neighboring areas are treating an
alarming number of Covid-19 patients, which is straining our staff and resources. As the number of
cases continue to climb, we risk the possibility that our regional health care systems will struggle to
meet the needs of our communities. Our frontline caregivers are working tirelessly, but this pace
cannot continue endlessly. We are seeing more hospitalizations and deaths than we have since the
beginning of the pandemic, and we must all work together to control the ongoing spread of this virus in
order to turn this around. As the possibility of vaccines and new therapies appear on the horizon, this is
the time when we really need to push forward as a community. Please be cautious with your holiday plans and activities. We ask that you follow all guidelines
developed by the CDC and the Indiana State Department of Health. Limit your gatherings, wear face
coverings in public, socially distance, and wash hands frequently. Stay home if you are sick, and follow
all instructions if you are asked to quarantine or isolate yourself. Remember that we truly are all in this together, and together we can make a difference as we fight this
virus. We wish all a safe and healthy holiday season!
